Swirls Cupcakes Review

Swirls on Urbanspoon

Location: 4158 Dundas St. West, Etobicoke, ON

Previously, I wrote that I am not in search of cupcakes in Toronto anymore because I found the best cupcakes at The Wedding Cake Shoppe (read the review here). However, I have been pressured to try more cupcakes in Toronto. As a cupcake lover, I couldn’t refuse the requests. I have already tried practically all the flavours at The Wedding Cake Shoppe, so it won’t hurt to try new cupcakes elsewhere.

Swirls Cupcakes has two locations in the GTA: one in Mississauga and one in Toronto. The one in Toronto is really close to my house, which is a huge benefit to me. I tried a 6-pack of cupcakes as there weren’t too many flavours left when I arrived on a late Sunday afternoon. There weren’t any huge standouts that I could recommend. They have the typical selection and were classically solid cupcakes. They are better than any cupcakes I have found in a supermarket, but aren’t cupcakes that I would crave. They are $2.25 a cupcake, which are cheaper than the other cupcakes I’ve tried in Toronto.

The cake is not too dense or rich, and the buttercream wasn’t overly buttery or heavy and had a nice light consistency. They aren’t as moist or airy as The Wedding Cake Shoppe cupcakes or other cupcakes that I have tried in the GTA, but they are flavourful. The cupcakes aren’t as delectable as other cupcake stores in the GTA, but they deliver the flavour they promise. In conclusion, Swirls cupcakes sell consistently solid cupcakes.
